RESI Conference 2016: Let’s Build More Homes, Faster

The RESI Conference 2016 marked the first gathering of the property industry since the Brexit vote – and the message from the Housing and Planning Minister, Gavin Barwell MP was clear;  ‘We’ll be challenging you to build more homes, more quickly’.

Many councils are showing leadership in driving housing delivery. The HFi were delighted to host a session on Municipal Muscle: Lessons From Around the Country. Local Councils, Big Housing Opportunities. The building blocks are in place – now is the time for councils to unleash their municipal muscle and build on recent housing success. We would like to extend a special thank you to our star guests, Ashford Borough Council, Bournemouth Borough Council and Stoke-on-Trent City Council – who shared their best practice, celebrated innovative partnerships and discussed the impact that being Housing Business Ready is making for their communities.  You can view and download the full presentation slides from the HFi Municipal Muscle session here.

Councils must flex their municipal muscle if we are to accelerate success and build more homes of every type. The Housing & Finance Institute have laid out a practical blueprint for action in infrastructure and dependencies mapping and build out rates- to help Councils unleash their municipal muscle to turn those planning permissions into homes on the ground.
