Housebuilding sees growth across the sectors

New housebuilding statistics from DCLG show a sharp increase in housebuilding completions in the last quarter across the sectors.

The numbers are a reflection of the hard work that has been done across the board over the last year in delivering more homes. Overall housebuilding completions in Oct-Dec 2015 were 22% higher than the same period in 2014. This positive trend was spread across the sectors. Private enterprise built 24% more homes compared to the last quarter of 2014, Housing Associations built 11% more homes and local authorities saw a completions boom of 47%.

Housebuilding growth

The annual completions have increased across various authorities up and down the country. Completions have increased by 21% this year in contrast to last year. This is a fantastic achievement for housing delivery. In addition, there has been an increase in completions in two thirds of authorities.

These latest figures are a powerful example of what we can achieve for housing if we work together. Here at the Housing and Finance Institute, we believe in fostering relationships across various sectors to deliver for housing. We continue to see active engagement between the public and private sector. This includes exciting new partnerships between Councils, finance and development. We hope to continue to create relationships which will facilitate accelerating housing delivery.
